Some days take you to a new room. A first meeting, an unfamiliar city, the morning of something you have been quietly building toward. On those days you want to bring one of your own small things — kept on the skin, not for anyone to see but you.
This piece carries two ways. Worn long, it traces the collarbone — a thread of small Pakistani Herkimer points, almost invisible, three freshwater pearls finding their places along the line. Worn doubled, the same strand wraps the wrist, the pearls landing close together like things kept in one pocket. One small object you take with you, into rooms you have not been in yet.
The stone. Herkimer-type quartz, from the Pakistani highlands. A doubly-terminated quartz that grows pointed at both ends — never cut, never polished, every face an original crystal face. In eighteenth-century Europe these small clear stones travelled in the pockets of people setting out — a carrier's stone, taken on the road for the way it held its clarity through journeys. The three pearls between are freshwater, white, round — picked one at a time for the soft, lit-from-inside quality good freshwater pearls hold when turned in natural light.
Craft & spec. A single 14.5 inch strand. Worn long, it traces the collarbone as a necklace. Worn doubled, the same strand wraps the wrist at about 7 inches — the same span as every Seren bracelet. The Pakistani Herkimer points are 2mm; three freshwater pearls at 4mm are spaced along the line. The clasp is 925 sterling silver — the only piece in the Seren series with silver hardware rather than 18K gold-plated brass. We chose it on purpose: silver sits cool against the skin, the pearls sit warm, and we didn't want to interrupt either.
Some days you walk into a new room. On the others, you wear the word — carry.
