Some loves arrive loud. The ones that stay tend to do it quietly. The Tuesday morning you make coffee for two without thinking about it. The shorthand built up over a decade — half a sentence, and the other person already knows. The way you reach for their hand in a crowded room, and it is already there.
A red rose, painted by hand on a soft gold ground, one leaf at its side. Sun lines at the edges, the kind that draw attention without making noise. The rose is small. The love it stands for is not.
The symbol. In Victorian England, when a woman could not say what she meant out loud, she said it with flowers. There was an entire grammar of it — a handbook called The Language of Flowers sat in many drawing rooms — and the red rose had a specific place in it. Not the rose of first meeting. Not the rose of the proposal. The rose given to someone you had already loved for a long time, to say I still mean it.
A small flower, exchanged without explanation, between people who already knew. It was a language for the things that didn't need new words.
Craft & spec. The image is hand-painted enamel — painted by hand and fired in layers, each colour applied separately, set in the kiln at approximately 800 degrees Celsius, allowed to cool, then layered again. The frame is cubic zirconia accents and engraved gold detail. The pendant body is 950 Britannia silver, finished in 3.0 microns of 18K gold vermeil. The chain is 925 sterling silver, also vermeil, 18 inches. Each piece is made to order in our workshop, and ships approximately 4 to 6 weeks after your order is confirmed.
For the marriage twenty years in, given without a card because the card would be redundant. For the friendship that has outlasted three apartments and one country. For the version of love that has stopped needing to be announced.
Love, softly.
